Joe Abercrombie Interview over at Pat's Fantasy Hotlist!
Say one thing for Joe Abercrombie, say he does darn fine interviews! Say (more than) one thing for Pat, say he interviewed Joe and asked Rob and I if we fancied contributing some questions.
Great interview, mate - the better, no doubt, for your contribution to it. I particularly relished Joe laying the smack down on old Tolkien for his lack of maps.
So I just got a copy of Best Served Cold - it made so many year-end lists I simply couldn't ignore it any longer - and only now am I realising it's a semi-sequel to the First Law trilogy, the first book and a half of which left me rather cold. On the other hand, I want to dig into Joe's latest now, damn it, so I'm asking: will reading Best Served Cold spoil me for the remainder of The First Law?
I was working with two seasoned interviewers, all the credit is theirs! ;o)
As far as I'm concerned, 'Best Served Cold' works fine on it's own. Reading it certainly won't spoil the big ending of the 'First Law'. I think it's one of those books where, if you've read the previous books, you'll find yourself saying "Ooh! That's such and such a person from the other books..." rather than than anything else.
Drop me a line at graeme NOSPAM @graemesfantasybookreview.com, remove the 'NOSPAM' bit though!
