I am going to be starting Christopher Moore's new book Fool this weekend. I am not some "jump on the wagon" fan. I have read all of his books and love his work. I think there are definitely some of his that would appeal to the crowd here.
Absolute Watchmen
Society of S (Young Adult novel)
Dipping into: The Complete Calvin & Hobbes :oD
Next: The Ninth Circle - finally! (Great review BTW)
Just started The Wine Dark Sea by Robert Aickman.
I am reading (and have been for several weeks now) William Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. It's very accessible (Shirer was a reporter with CBS during the war) but rather heavy, both in mass and subject.
I will be getting back into genre with my next book - William Heaney's (or, Graham Joyce's) Memoirs of a Master Forger.
Am in the middle of The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie... which I picked up while on holiday in the far-east!
Just finished Victory of Eagles and I'm now dipping into Thicker than Water.
Not sure about VoE, perhaps the weakest of the series so far. Don't let that put you off though, still an entertaining read...
On Richard Morgan's recommendation, I've just read and/or am reading:
Just finished The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson (wow)couldn't put it down;
J M Coetze: Disgrace
Now reading: Graham Joyce The Tooth Fairy, while waiting to receive his "The Storm Watcher".
And, according to my daugher I have to read Watchmen today because we're going to see it tomorrow night.
The Hoard of Mhorrer by MFW Curran
enjoying it, he's tightened his writing up a bit since The Secret War, but everything I liked about the first book is still there.
I'm currently reading 'Star Trek: A Singular Destiny' by Keith DeCandido.
I'm about halfway through R. Scott Bakker's The Warrior Prophet. SO far it's really good.
Currently reading Counting Heads by David Marusek, and Paul di Filippo's short story collection Strange Trades.
I too am reading "The Blade Itself" by Joe Abercrombie..
quite enjoying it so far
part way through "Without Warning" by John Birmingham.
Excellent! Action, excitement, intrigue and very thought provoking. In a good way.
Crazy as I am I read three books parallel:
Chronicles of The Black Company (The Black Company / Shadows Linger / The White Rose) by Glen Cook
I finished The Black Company and
read 80 pages of Shadows Linger
The Sword of Shannara (Shannara Book 1) by Terry Brooks
I read 109 pages so far.
Deadhouse Gates: Book Two of The Malazan Book of the Fallen bySteven Erikson
I read 60 pages so far.
Different books but I enjoy them all.
