As much as I try not to make this a blog about Hope and what she’s up to, sometimes I just can’t help it. If you’re just here to find out if you won a book then scroll down to the picture of the scary pumpkin and go from there. If not, bear with me for a paragraph or two...
If you were here last week then you’ll remember me telling you about this book,
The tale of a small monkey who has to learn to say ‘please’ before he can get his hands on that banana... Hope’s really into books at the moment and she’ll often either bring you a book to read to her or just sit down and have a read herself (she has been known to chew on them but I’m not counting that!) What I wasn’t expecting though was to go into the living room, this morning, and find her reading ‘Banana!’ out loud; sounding cross when the little monkey was cross, sounding upset when the monkey was upset and so on. The best bit though was to hear her trying to say the word ‘banana’ out loud; ‘balala’ isn’t quite there but it’s pretty damn close! Funnily enough though, I never heard her say ‘please’... No matter how bad the rest of the day/week is, I got to hear my little girl reading out loud for the first time. It was the most amazing thing ever :o)
Thanks for sticking around to hear me gush away, onto Monday morning business!
Thanks to everyone who entered last week’s competition to win a copy of ‘The Mammoth Book of Best Horror 22’. Unfortunately for everyone else (apart from the winners that is) I only had the five copies to give away and they’ll be going to...

Well done guys, your books are on their way! Better luck next time everyone else...
That's pretty much it for me today but the rest of this week is all about the books as per usual. If you want to hear about Inquisitors, Barbarians, Imperial Guard and Zombies then this will be the place to be. See you tomorrow :o)
What a brilliant post :D Big grins here.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I can't wait for that to happen. My little guy (15 months) is obsessed with books too, I love it when he grabs a book and comes to sit by me, or when he grabs my books and flips through them like he knows what he's doing. :)
ReplyDeleteGraeme, I can't thank you enough for the book! I am so psyched to dig into it.
ReplyDeleteAlso gonna have to look into that Banana book. All 4 of my monsters have problems with the "P" word.....
Thank you, very much! Looking forward to a comfy October reading :)
ReplyDeleteahhh what a dad! I love hearing my nephew say my name its so cute!

Hello. I stumbled upon your blog and have to say I'm enjoying it very much. I applaud your discipline to write so frequently about the numerous books you read. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd so very nice to hear your little girl reading. I'm not a parent, but my eldest nephew discovered his first chapter book and had a grand time hearing his mom read him the story. Passing on the gift of reading is so important, and we're all glad he's showing an interest in books without pictures. Lol.
I really wish I had something more constructive to say, but... balala!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable. :)
