I found out last night that Kage Baker passed away on the 31st of January. I'd only discovered her work very recently (and have only read a couple of her books) but what I did read was superb and leaves me in no doubt that the world of speculative fiction just got a tiny bit darker now she's gone.
Like I said, I only read a couple of Kage's books but would thoroughly recommend 'The House of the Stag' and 'The Empress of Mars' to anyone looking for a good read.
