Both are derivative but I got the impression that 'Clockwork King' wasn't taking itself quite so seriously and that was just what I was after. The mentor's fate was weird but I'll wait and see what happens, in another book, before I make my mind up. Makennon was a bit wooden but I felt she didn't have enough involvement in the story for it to make too much difference anyway.

But, the stupid words... you got me there.

'The Clockwork King' is a cartoon story without the pictures. Once I got that straight in my head I enjoyed it for what it was ;o)Graeme Floryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15411505049326440010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679457768571800783.post-40818826640359006102008-09-24T15:01:00.000+01:002008-09-24T15:01:00.000+01:00You are mad. Makennon's set up like a bloody cardboard cut-out and flipflops at the last second, the mentor's ultimate fate is barmy, the bloke's prose is full of awful run-on sentences, and... well. Good lord. Romfiffelypop. Worgle. Bamfcat.

How on earth can you rate this more highly than the first book?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
